Doctor Bahu (Dr. Daughter-in-Law)

Doctor Bahu (Dr. Daughter-in-Law)

Unfortunately, many female doctors do not take on their professional roles after getting married. According to Pakistan Medical Council, 70% of female doctors have not pursued their studies after marriage.

A famous spice company Shan foods raised this issue and made TVC on this topic. In which the expectations related to the girl after marriage and then the support is given by the in-laws were discussed.

The ad shows that with the support of in-laws, the female doctor can maintain a balance between her professional duties and domestic life.

The ad also shows that cooking or caring for a baby is not only the sole responsibility of the daughter-in-law or the mother but also the mother-in-law and husband.

Recently famous Pakistani TV/Film actor Humayun Saeed raised this unnoticed issue in Pakistan. He brought up the issue and shows his disappointment that many female medical students who successfully become doctors never become an active part of the medical workforce, many people agreed with him.

This is a bitter reality of our society. Everyone wants a doctor bahu (Daughter- in Law) but they did not want to allow them to continue their practice or any further studies. Most of the people demand Doctor bride, the obsession for getting a Doctor Rishta is deeply rooted in the desire to flaunt Doctor Bahu(daughter-in-law) at kitty parties, and the charm that the title “Dr.” brings to wedding invitation cards.

On the Other hand, many female doctors don’t want to pursue their practice without any reason or pressure. They feel easy to stay home, choose to be a housewife same is the case in other professions also, as they are not interested to work.

However, always encourage women. They need our support at every step along the way.
